Under Lanche Community Farm

Situated on the edge of Poundbury, Dorchester, Under Lanche was the first project by the Transition Town Dorchester group. With support from local businesses, The Duchy of Cornwall and plenty of hard work, we eventually managed to get this project off the ground. Thank you to First Tunnels for donating our fantastic polytunnel.

We have bees, hens and geese and also Indian runner x Khaki Campbell ducks which help to keep the slug population down. Nearby, we have also recently taken on the management of the Poundbury Community Orchard which includes 60 heritage apple and pear trees. Our new wildlife pond is now fenced off and starting to establish itself .

Farm work days:

11am – 4pm, every 2nd Saturday and 3rd and 4th Sunday of the month.

This is our first major project and is open to anyone who is interested, not just TTD members. It’s not all work, get to know like minded folk in between growing, sowing, weeding, watering and feeding the hens. Its a great opportunity to share ideas on providing a more sustainable future for our community and plan our future projects.
